Post Harvest Management (PHM) plays very important role in promotion of horticultural production and marketing. FFF has a strategic edge over its competitors to build local capacity with Extension/outreach work. FFF provide demonstrations of appropriate postharvest technologies in rural markets and villages to improve access to postharvest tools, equipment, packages, supplies and promote "integrated postharvest management systems" for reducing losses (in quantity, quality and market value). We also provide "train the trainers" programs for creating a cadre of local postharvest specialists.
Moreover, FFF introduced scientific practices of field packing to improve quality (sorting, trimming, quality grading and packing in the field) and use low cost cooling practices to extend postharvest life of the produce. Field curing is performed to extend storage life and maintain quality of root, tuber and bulb crops.
